Have you ever wondered how military objects receive their fuel supply? The body responsible for this task is the Defence Pipeline Organisation. This section of the Ministry of Defence manages the underground pipeline network and is responsible for the transport of fuels to various military (and non-military) objects in the Netherlands and beyond. These processes are directed from a series of control rooms across the Netherlands.
In the past, one fuel depot of the Defence Pipeline Organisation in the heart of the country used to be controlled locally. The construction of a new Central Control Room in Pernis has changed this situation. From now own, fuels are pumped around the country, by remote control. Stock levels at the fuel depot in the centre of the country are now also monitored from Pernis. Sweco was responsible for the detailed engineering for various components of the Central Control Room and for implementing the engineering components at the complex.
